Well, the inevitable has happened: the Georgetown grad owner of Luke's Lobster is now bringing those lobster rolls to Georgetown. Luke Holden tells the Washington Post that the third DC location of the New York-based chain will be the old Philadelphia Pizza space — which they apparently took over awhile ago as the opening is already set for August 23.
There will be a couple of key differences between this new location and those that have already opened in Penn Quarter and Bethesda. For one, this will be the largest Luke's Lobster, spanning two floors with seating for 25. They're also adding an ice cream sandwich to the menu and, thanks to neighborhood liquor licensing restrictions, there won't be any beer, at least at first. At any rate, quite the expansion tear for Luke's Lobster, which only just made its DC debut in late May of last year.
