DEL RAY—Since 1997, Evening Star Cafe has been an Alexandria mainstay and this weekend they celebrate their 15th anniversary with three days of hijinks. Friday at 6 p.m. brings a '90s dance party in the lounge, while on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. there's going to be a block party with ribs, half-smokes local brews and live music. Finally, on Sunday morning the restaurant will offer free coffee and beignets on its patio, later followed by a two-course dinner for $19.97. [EaterWire]
CLARENDON—The City Paper brings word of a new Sichuan menu over at Mala Tang, inspired by a recent trip to China taken by its owners. Whereas previously it focused on individual hot pot, now there are "about 80 family-style entrees divided by proteins." Also, Mala Tang's owners are mulling another project in District lines this time featuring Sichuan street food. [WCP]
DOWNTOWN—Reps send word that Bombay Club hosted Caroline Kennedy last night, along with four of her friends: "They shared two Crispy Spinach dishes for an appetizer, and then enjoyed the Tandoori Salmon, Chicken Makhni, Goa Fish Curry, Baingan Bharta, and Tandoori Chicken. They were all wearing pantsuits." [EaterWire]
