José Andrés Consulting on NBC's Hannibal Lecter Series

New, 1 comment

José Andrés is already a restaurateur multiple times over, a food truck owner, dean of the International Culinary Center, Harvard lecturer, member of the 2012 Class of State Chefs , Iron Chef — and now Tom Sietsema reports that the chef is also serving as culinary consultant on NBC's yet-to-air series Hannibal, based on the fictional cannibalistic character Hannibal Lecter. Andrés tells Sietsema that his "research included eating 'a lot of lung dishes this summer'" for the show it seems will depict Lecter as much a "culinary sophisticate" as a serial killer.

Andrés also says that his ThinkFoodGroup team was not so sure about taking on the project, but he concluded, "I'm going to lose customers doing this? I don't think so." Meanwhile, Eater National notes that producers of the show have plans to release recipes online, but with meat substitutes rather than human flesh.
