PENN QUARTER—Actress Katherine Heigl was in town for an animal adoption fundraiser and stopped in at Fiola for dinner. Co-owner Maria Trabocchi tweeted the details this morning: "Really beautiful Katherine Heigl and family @fioladc. Last nite, charming..... And yes, she eats pasta too :)" [Twitter]
SHAW—The Washingtonian gets some more details on the restaurant that a Maple bartender by the name of Sherman Golden is moving in next door to Seasonal Pantry. There's going to be a semi-open kitchen, but he's not going to do small plates, charcuterie or communal tables. And some potentially good dessert news: "Golden is a big milkshake fan and would love to do a dessert menu of milkshakes and doughnuts—though 'only if we can make our own ice cream.'" [Washingtonian]
H STREET—This Saturday is the H Street Festival and as part of the festivities, Toki Underground is hosting a pop-up library. There won't be any dining component to that, but the restaurant is offering $1 coupons for every two books donated. [Official Site]
