Time to get those hopes back up, as it looks like highly acclaimed former Town House chef John Shields might pick DC for his first solo project after all. Earlier this year, Shields declared his interest in opening a restaurant in the region and possibly DC — and soon after announced that the project would land in Philadelphia. But now Shields tells Eater Philly that he's rethinking the plan, explaining that while he loves Philly, "we've gotten virtually no interest from financial backers. And, we've gotten some strong leads in Washington, D.C."

So there's still hope! And, indeed, Shields recently spent a week in DC, during which he ate at Honey Pig and hung out with former Town House employee Johnny Spero of the forthcoming Suna . But Shields lives in Philadelphia and is a big fan of that city, so keeping the project there is still a possibility as "It's not a dead deal situation yet." But hey, got any tips on these supposed strong leads in Washington? Send 'em on over.
