Here's yet another coffee shop popping up in a shared space with another business: As of this morning, Vigilante Coffee is now available weekday mornings at Dupont's Mr. Yogato. It's a similar concept to Blind Dog Cafe, which opened earlier this year during the daytime in Darnell's Bar space. The Vigilante-Yogato partnership has been in the works for about a month and, as owner Chris Vigilante explains of the decision:
It's a smart concept. Why not? Get into a space where they're not currently using it and make the most out of it. Rents are so high in the city that for a start-up company like mine, a pop-up shop makes the most sense.
So from now on, Vigilante Coffee will be operating out of the frozen yogurt store on weekdays from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. offering a six-cup pourover bar with two single-origin coffees every day — one Hawaiian will always be available. Also a full espresso bar, fresh roasted beans, and pastries from the very same baker from Blind Dog Cafe. In other Vigilante Coffee news, not only is the micro-roaster planning to have an espresso bar at the forthcoming Maketto on H Street, but they'll be roasting on-site.
