Well, that was fast. Three weeks after Seventh Hill's beloved pizzaiolo Anthony Pilla announced he was leaving the Capitol Hill restaurant for Ari Gejdenson's forthcoming Ghibellina, now The Hill Is Home reports that Pilla is teaming up with H &pizza. And nope, this is not something the pizzaiolo is doing to stay busy until Ghibellina opens. Gejdenson confirms to Eater that Pilla "is not working for me at all" now.
Pilla also confirmed the news and declined to provide any detail on his decision to part ways with Ghibellina so soon after announcing the partnership. As for his work with buzzy newcomer H &pizza, he says he'll be working for the brand, which he believes in and respects — though the exact details of his involvement there are still being worked out. So stay tuned — also as to whether Pilla's name ends up being linked to as many local pizzerias as fellow star pizzaiolo Edan MacQuaid.
