Second Chix Location, Red Apron Now Open

1) Thomas Circle: Chix had the soft opening of its second location, Chix Dos, on Friday, PoPville said. The restaurant was open in time to serve inauguration attendees today. Chix specializes in healthy chicken dishes like wraps and Peruvian rotisserie chicken, and has an environmentally-friendly buildout. Status: Certified Open. 1121 14th St, NW; website.

2) Northeast: Red Apron Butchery opened its Union Market stall over the weekend, specializing in charcuterie. Neighborhood Restaurant Group pastry chef Tiffany MacIssac Tweeted a photo of the baguettes she sent over there this morning for sandwiches including Porkstrami, pork meatball sub and Italian beef. The display case currently sells meats including aged primed rib, rib roast and bone in sirloin along with porchetta, pastrami, fresh sausages, and hot dogs. There are some salad options as well. The shop, with meat cured by Nathan Anda, has two more locations on the way, in Penn Quarter and at Mosaic District in Merrifield. Status: Certified open. 1309 5th St. NE: website.
