Vodka for a Bloody Maryland; Johnny's Takeout Open

LIQUOR WIRE— The GoG blog has the latest on The Bay vodka, a new infused vodka flavored with a seasoning mix that sounds like a non-trademarked version of Maryland favorite Old Bay. Which means a Bloody Maryland cocktail is sure to follow. [GoG]

VARIOUS NEIGHBORHOODS— The big-ticket Sips & Suppers event takes place this weekend, benefiting DC Central Kitchen and Martha's Tables. Those in for the "sips" portion of the evening ($95) at the Newseum, get to attend a big cocktail party with drinks from bartenders like Gina Chersevani and Owen Thompson. The "Suppers" portion has chefs like Scott Drewno and Mike Isabella cooking in private homes throughout the city ($550). [EaterWire]

DOWNTOWN— In other expensive but popular benefits news, there's Sugar & Champagne coming up Jan. 31, hosted by Todd and Ellen Gray of Equinox. The benefit for the Humane Society will feature food from dozens of restaurants, from Poste to Pitango. Tickets are $90. [EaterWire]

CAPITOL HILLTaqueria Nacional has officially transformed into Johnny's Takeout, a takeout arm of Johnny's Half Shell, as previously planned. The taqueria is relocating to a new space on 14th Street, still under construction. [PoPville]
