Society Fair's sommelier and manager John Wabeck is leaving Eat Good Food Group.
Wabeck, a fixture in the local restaurant scene, is moving to Pittsburgh with his girlfriend Melissa Horst, who worked at Eat Good's Virtue Feed & Grain restaurant. The news was originally reported on Don Rockwell, and has been confirmed by Eater. From co-owner Meshelle Armstrong:
John's been a great friend, an incredible asset and we hate to lose him, but we understand love comes first! My husband and Todd are also sad that they will loose their 4th in golf. We wish him the best of luck and look forward when he comes down to visit from Pittsburgh.
The restaurant group is actively looking for someone to fill the position. Wabeck previously worked as sommelier at the now-shuttered Inox restaurant in Tysons Corner, and also spent time in DC restaurant kitchens as well.
Update: Here's their new gigs, courtesy of former DC food writer Melissa McCart, who's now a food critic in Pittsburgh.
