1) Arlington: Shirlington's latest restaurant, Copperwood Tavern, is slated to open up today. The restaurant comes from the team behind Irish Whiskey, The Mighty Pint and Wilson's Tavern, and it's definitely going for a hunt-inspired theme. There is room for 218 people within the restaurant, designed by Maggie O'Neill. The look is cabin-inspired, and the restaurant will serve game meat and fish. Small batch whiskey and craft beer will also be a focus. The patio will be dog-friendly (animals get special treats and copper bowls). Status: Opening today. 4021 Campbell Ave., Arlington; website.

2) K Street: Newton's Noodles, after being plagued with several opening hiccups, starts service today. This is Dennis Friedman's fast casual Asian-inspired restaurant, serving up "fuzu" and "chork" serving utensils. Status: Opening today. 1129 20th St. NW; website.
