Big changes are coming to The Heights restaurant, including a new chef, a new look and a temporary closure.
The restaurant will be closed Oct. 28-31 and reopen on Nov. 1 with its changes in place, according to EatWell's David Winer. Kerry Tate will oversee the menu in the hopes of making it even more local, working with the restaurant's own farm in La Plata, Maryland. Menu items from Tate, formerly of Slate Wine Bar, will include fried oysters with kimchi and maple-brined pork tenderloin. Bartenders Lisa Weatherhold and Keith Vient are updating the bar program with more cocktails, beers and wines, and the lounge area is being redone to be more comfortable, with new lighting and seating.
In light of the changes, The Heights will have a "closing sale" on Oct. 27 before the shutter, with everything priced half off. On reopening day, happy hour will go all night, and the restaurant will host a beer and wine "garden party" on that following weekend with special discounts.
