Garden District's Winter Closing; Brandwein Update

LOGAN CIRCLE— It's time to say goodbye. Well, almost. Garden District's last day of operation will be Dec. 7, before it closes up for the winter (don't worry, they'll be back next year). The outdoor restaurant will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day. [EaterWire]

MOUNT VERNON TRIANGLEAlba Osteria, the second restaurant from the Al Dente team, will have a well-known name cooking there when it opens Dec. 15. Amy Brandwein, an alumnus of Casa Nonna who also worked under Al Dente's Roberto Donna, will be chef de cuisine of the Italian restaurant. [EaterWire]

BARRACKS ROWDistrict Doughnut's brick and mortar location is shooting for an April opening. They'll be opening at 749 8th St. SE in a space designed by CORE. [EaterWire]

PENN QUARTERDaikaya is donating all the proceeds from sales of its Sisig dish to the World Food Programs (WFP) for families in the Philippines. They'll do this for the rest of the year; the Sisig (a Filipino spicy pork hash) is available in the izakaya during both lunch and brunch. [EaterWire]
