There may not be a sign out front yet, but in the next few weeks, Shaw will have a new neighborhood bar when All Souls finally opens its doors. The bar has had its fair share of local battles since it's located close to Shaw's Cleveland Elementary School. This has led to delays, but now more than two years later, All Souls has its permits and is building out its space at the end of a small strip mall that is rapidly revitalizing. The bar should be open for business in a few weeks.
Developed by David Batista, who earned his cred at Jose Andres' Jaleo and Zatinya, All Souls will have enough space for about 40 seats, including about 15 seats at the original Jaleo bar that has been repurposed in its new home. The space is fairly tight, but Batista is making the most of what he has to work with. All Souls has a small kitchen that will serve a limited menu, but the focus here will be on the drinks and maintaining a neighborhood vibe.
