D.C., get ready for the Peet's Coffee invasion. The San Francisco coffee chain has signed a lease for 1001 Pennsylvania Ave. NW (in the same building as Central Michel Richard). The news comes from an email blast from Miller Walker Retail Real Estate, one of the brokerage firms involved with the eal. No opening date was projected.
This is one of several Peet's locations that will soon come to the region. The company is in the process of converting several of the area's Caribou Coffee outposts to Peet's cafes (Both companies were bought out early last year). That transition should happen beginning next spring. The company has had a retail presence in area grocery stores for several years now.
