Cap City Overhauls Menu with Beer-Spiked Items

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

Capitol City Brewing Company is shaking up its menu, to add more organic products, as well as more items that include beer made in-house by the brewery.

About a dozen new menu items have been added, according to general manager Tony Harahan. One is a Prohibition Porter Beer Bratwurst, where the sausage is made with Cap City's own porter. The restaurant is also using organic chicken from Pennsylvania in several items, including a lemon caper chicken entree and an Amber Wave ale-marinated chicken. There are also new steaks, pastas and pizzas from chef Douglas Cruz. The menu changes today (there are also three pages of menu items with beer pairings from the restaurant's new beer master).

"We're getting a little more local, a little more fresh," said Harahan. The restaurant had decided it was time for a change when it celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, but took some time to develop the menu, he said. The restaurant recently added brunch as well.
