Asad Sheikh, the proprietor behind Fairfax Indian restaurant Curry Mantra, just opened his second location, and he's already primed for a third.
Curry Mantra 2 opened last week in Falls Church at 1077 West Broad St. "It's a lot more upscale," Sheikh said. The restaurant has valet parking, a broader wine selection and an expanded menu with new dishes, he said. An open kitchen allows customers to get a look at the cooking. Everyone from the mayor to a bunch of Redskins cheerleaders showed up for an opening party Feb. 17.
Sheikh told Tom Sietsema back in October that he'd like to be the Ashok Bajaj of the suburbs, and he's definitely expanding quickly. A third Curry Mantra will open in May in Vienna, he told Eater. It will be located at 262 Cedar Lane. Sietsema gave the original location two stars last year.
