Thunder Pig Confectionery Gets Start-Up Kitchen Boost

Thunder Pig Confectionery will get cooking space and a mentoring boost, now that it's been selected as the winner of the second StartUp Kitchen project.

The bakery, from former lobbyist Meg Murray, will get the chance to run out of Hello Cupcake on Barracks Row for a brief incubation period. Her pop-up will serve homemade candies like marshmallows, toffee, chocolates and caramels. Murray currently works as a wholesaler in NoMa, but wants to expand the operation to be a flying-circus themed dessert shop. She'll begin her mentoring program with Hello Cupcake March 18

This was the second StartUp Kitchen project run by Think Local First and Nurish, focusing on desserts. The first produced D.C. Dosas, which found a permanent space after their pop-up restaurant at the Foggy Bottom Whole Foods.
