A new restaurant serving Dutch-style sandwiches appears poised to open up shop on Capitol Hill.
Broodjes & Bier has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to get off the ground. They're shooting to earn $3,500, and already have more than $2,500 raised through the site. It looks like they will operate at least initially out of the Silver Spork bakery, according to the company's blog. But the dream is to build a brick and mortar location eventually.
So what's a Dutch-style sandwich? Sounds like they're on the fancy side.
Where others use lettuce, we use arugula. Where some concede to Muenster, we opt for 18-month aged Goudas. We keep whole legs of prosciutto at the ready, and are intimately aware of how many freshly baked ciabatta rolls we can stack in our Timbuk2s.
Right now, the team has 15 sandwiches at the ready and is going to host a pop-up dinner series soon. Eater has reached out to the team for any additional details.
