'Futuristic Bar' The Elroy Coming to H Street NE

A couple of blogs picked up the fact yesterday that the liquor license for the New York Avenue Beach Bar was being transferred to a H Street location. Young & Hungry investigates, and finds that Karl Graham, a partner in the Beach bar, is opening up his own place called The Elroy at 1423 H St. NE. From the story:

Graham, who's also a general contractor, tells Y&H the name refers to the Jetsons character and that The Elroy will be a "futuristic bar." As for what exactly that means, Graham is keeping the details under wraps for now. He also describes the spot as "a nice little neighborhood bar where you come in and people know your name." The two-story space is located a quarter mile from where Graham grew up.

The bar will have a collection of "fancy glasses" (a trend seen elsewhere at Barmini and the upcoming Grill Room/Rye Bar) and serve a limited menu. A May opening is planned. Meanwhile, there are no plans to resurrect Tom Brown's original Beach Bar this spring; he sold his portion of the business, the report says.
