When European chain La Tagliatella opens at 2950 Clarendon Blvd. next month, it will only be the third U.S. introduction to the restaurant group, which has more than 130 locations worldwide.

The Italian restaurant, by way of Spain where the company is based, has announced an opening date of April 1, as well as some details on what diners can expect from the restaurant. Here are some highlights.

·  Diners will have about 400 pasta and sauce combinations to choose from at the restaurant, which also specializes in Neapolitan pizzas. The company imports ingredients from Italy for their dishes, and pizza toppings range from duck ham to a salume pizza topped with a cracked egg and oregano.

· For antipastas, choices will include items like beef carpaccio and tominata (a cheese wrapped in speck). There are several vegetarian items on the menu, like lasagna verde with spinach, as well as risottos and meat dishes.

· The restaurant is planning a happy hour, and will serve Italian-influenced drinks like a caprese martini and a Cabernet and blood orange sangria. There will be 50 wines to choose from, as well as draft and bottled beer.

· The restaurant's design, from firms ai3 and Decotetro, features wooded walls, ceilings and floors, meant to invoke the appearance of an Italian home. The restaurant will feature covered and open-air patios, too.

· La Tagliatella will open for both lunch and dinner. Another location is on the way to Gainesville.
