D.C. chefs Mike Isabella, Haidar Karoum, Kyle Bailey, Jeff Buben and Bryan Voltaggio will face off against each other for the coveted "Prince of Porc" title at this year's Cochon 555 event.
Organizers announced the lineup for the event today; it will take place April 7 at the Newseum. The five chefs will work with five pigs for the nose-to-tail cooking competition. The Source's Scott Drewno was the winner last year and the year before; the winner goes on to compete at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen for a national title.
The evening will also feature Bourbon Steak's John Critchley, previeiwng a new Heritage BBQ event - he'll be cooking a whole hog barbecue style before the awards. This year's event will feature five wineries and, as a new addition, five bourbons: Breckenridge Bourbon, Eagle Rare, Templeton Rye, High West, Buffalo Trace and Four Roses, as well as a Perfect Manhattan Bar, a Chupito/Mezcal Bar, a Tartare Bar and a Craft Cheese Bar. Chris Fuller of Alleghany Meats is scheduled to give a butchery demo, too.
