Glover Park has lost one of its more ambitious restaurants. Tom Sietsema reports today that Mayfair & Pine has closed its doors.
Did competition do them in? "We did not have any competition when it came to food on the strip," says the chef. "No one had the chops, the creativity." People in the area, she adds, preferred getting meals "delivered to their door."
Ouch. Mayfair & Pine came from chef Emily Sprissler, a veteran of Top Chef, and her husband Jason Cote. It was open nearly a year. The chef told Sietsema she has no immediate future plans. The restaurant's Facebook page has no further information but posts a link to the Post article with the phrase "circa regna tonat" ("it thunders through the realms").
