Can Market Lunch's crabcake take Guy Fieri to Flavortown?
It's looking like the Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives may have been filming at Eastern Market this week. An Eater tipster sent in this photo of a Food Network disclosure form hanging up near the Market Lunch stand yesterday. The memo warns participants that they cannot speak to the press without permission or post about the show on social media. There was also signage on the doors to the market telling customers that entrance means they're giving consent to be filmed. From the sign:
Dear participating venues, Congratulations for being selected to participate in "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives." We look forward to working with you on the show as we get closer to the date your episode premieres on Food Network. "
Eater has reached out to Fieri's publicist and an Eastern Market representative for any further info, but has not yet received a response. Guy Fieri's only Tweet from the past few days is a plug for his new DDD cookbook. Eastern Market, and in particular Market Lunch with its iconic D.C. dishes such as its blueberry buckwheat pancakes, would be a natural fit for the show.
The show has come to DC before, stopping at such locations as Falls Church's La Caraquena, D.C.'s Comet Ping Pong, and, near Eastern Market, the Tune Inn and Tortilla Cafe. Here's a map of D.C.'s DDD cameos.
