As if a burger isn't filling enough, these restaurants offer toppings that sometimes are fit to be a stand-alone meal in themselves. From insanely spicy sauces to french delicacies, here's a rundown of the most intense burger toppings in the D.C. area.

1. The burger: Pig on a Cow Suit
The topping: Pulled pork
Where to find it: Thunder Burger & Bar, whose burger features barbecue pulled pork, cheddar, tobacco onions and remoulade

2. The burger: The Apache Sweat Lodge
The topping: XXX sauce, made with seven different pepper varieties including Poblano, Bird's Eye Chili, Sweet Green Chili and Cascabel Chili
