Here's Burger, Tap & Shake's Jeff Tunks on sliders (he's in the "pro" camp): "I'm a big fan of the sliders from our restaurant PassionFish, which does mix-and-match sliders with a choice of lobster, crab or beef. It's a good option when you don't want to fully commit to an entire burger, but still want to get a taste. Matchbox in Chinatown also has good sliders.
