The neighborhood of Bloomingdale got a new addition when The Red Hen opened last week. The restaurant venture from Sebastian Zutant, Mike O'Malley and Michael Friedman serves up Italian-influenced food, with an emphasis on grilled meats and vegetables.
That emphasis comes partially due to the restaurant's stone hearlth and Grillworks wood-fired grill, a focal centerpiece of the space. The restaurant was designed by Lauren Winter and Brian Miller of Edit Lab at Streetsense (Eater took a tour of the unfinished space earlier this spring) and the design emphasizes natural light, neutral colors and reclaimed wood accents. There's an open kitchen, orange splashes of color, and a leather bar.
