Robert Weland is parting ways with Cork Wine Bar, and the Logan Circle neighborhood favorite is promoting Kristin Hutter of Cork Market to take his place.
Hutter will develop a a new spring menu along with former Cork chef Ron Tanaka, who is returning to the restaurant temporarily to help with the transition, according to a press release from the restaurant. Tanaka's at work on his own place, Thally, which is set to open this summer.
Also striking out on his own — Weland. The press release says he's pursuing other project, including a possible joint venture with Cork owners Diane Gross and Khalid Pitts. Tom Sietsema checked in with the chef during his weekly chat — he'll be traveling to Italy before he returns to his other options.
