Mi Cocina, the Tex-Mex restaurant replacing the former M Cafe at the Collection at Chevy Chase, has an opening date for its first D.C. location — May 10.

The chain comes out of Texas, and is known for such dishes as brisket tacos, fajitas and salads. There's a cute tradition of naming menu items after former employees. There are now just over 20 locations of Mi Cocina nationally.

The Chevy Chase location will seat about 155 people in its dining room, which will be decorated with chandeliers and a mural from Mexican artist Luis Sottil. There's also a glass-enclosed private dining room. The front of the restaurant opens up to allow for al fresco dining, and there's a shaded patio as well. Meanwhile, M Cafe's relocation to Logan Circle is progressing, and should open fairly soon from the look of things.
