Dolci Gelati's First Cafe Debuts in Takoma Park Saturday

The grand opening for Dolci Gelati Cafe, the local company's first storefront, is scheduled for Sunday. The company, from chef Gianluigi Dellaccio and his wife, co-owner Anastasia Dellacio, is familiar to D.C. audiences who have tasted the gelato in local restaurants as well as places like Nationals Ballpark. The new cafe, opened with business partner Marcello Minna, a coffee distributor, is located at 7000 Carroll Ave., not far from Dolci's test kitchen.

The company has more than 300 different gelato varieties, which the cafe will rotate depending on the day. They're launching a health-conscious line with flavors like green tea and super citrus antioxidant sorbet, as well as a flavor where profits go to charity. Also available, "cupcake cones", ice cream cones filled with cupcake and ganache, flavored kettle corn, sundaes and nuts. A second location is planned for the upcoming City Market at O development in Shaw. Status: Softly open; Grand opening this weekend. 7000 Carroll Ave.; website.
