PENN QUARTER— Batman loves Indian food. Actor Val Kilmer dined at Rasika this week with several guests, including Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. According to a rep from the restaurant, the party ordered palak chat, tawa baingan, chicken tikka masala, zafrani murg and lamb chops. That's all. [EaterWire]
GEORGETOWN— It's almost summer and that means 1789 becomes a bit more affordable. The restaurant continues its annual summer special, which means four courses for $50. Each person receives two appetizers, an entree and a dessert. There's an optional $20 wine pairing as well. New dishes include morels with fried duck egg, diver scallops with lobster grits and peach hand pies. The menu is available weekdays from 6-10 p.m. and Fridays from 6-11 p.m. from June 3 through Sept. 13. [EaterWire]
BROOKLAND, BLOOMINGDALE— Fritz Hahn has an update on two new projects, courtesy of some liquor license filings. The first is Brookland's Finest, a coffee shop and bar from the Solly's team, and 13th Street Meats' storefront at 247 Florida Ave. NW. The latter will mostly be a retail meat shop, but there will also be a 12-seat counter where customers can buy items like sausage sandwiches and chili, or grab a beer. [WaPo]
