Who needs the Golden Arches? Sixth Engine is bringing back The MacRib. The McDonald's-esque sandwich is going back on the menu May 16, and will be available through Memorial Day weekend, according to a rep for the restaurant.
The sandwich was "wildly popular" when the restaurant first opened, owner Gavin Coleman told Eater earlier this year. For the MacRib, chef Paul Madrid combines smoked pork shoulder and pork belly to create the patty, which is then grilled and glazed with homemade barbecue sauce. It's topped with homemade pickles and served on a sesame seed bun.
Customers in the know could order the sandwich off-menu in the past, putting the dish in the ranks of elusive D.C. dishes such as ChurchKey's The Luther (a new incarnation of which has now found a home at GBD).
