METRO CENTER— So remember that Mexican place coming to the old Galileo III space, MXDC? Owner Aziz Safi tells Tom Sietsema that he's partnering with Todd English on the concept. English has hired Mexico's Juan Carlos Pavlovich as chef de cuisine. Will English's plans for a D.C. comeback stick? The celebrity chef was behind the now-shuttered Olives Restaurant, and was also supposed to be a part of what eventually became Zentan, though he pulled out of that project. [WaPo]
DUPONT CIRCLE— Oh, Dupont Circle and its food fume issues. The latest offender: Zeke's DC Donutz. Owner Aaron Gordon has temporarily closed the place because of complaints from neighbors and the landlord about doughnut fumes, according to Young and Hungry. If he can't find a solution to the tragic problem of the delicious scent of doughnuts wafting through the neighborhood, the restaurant may need to move. [WCP]
GAITHERSBURG— In more permanent restaurant closing news, O'Donnell's Sea Grill will shutter July 27, according to Bethesda Magazine. The restaurant is 91 years old, and owner Bill Edelblut is ready to leave the business. [BM]
