MXDC, Pete's New Haven Silver Spring Opening Today

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

1) Metro Center: Celebrity chef Todd English makes his return to the D.C. market with the initials-happy MXDC, which opens to the public tonight. The restaurant, located where Galileo 3 used to be, serves Mexican small plates and family-style dishes, and is emphasizing its tequila program, with more than 100 offerings of the liquor. English's last D.C. restaurant was the now-shuttered Olives, though he was briefly attached to what is now Zentan. Status: Opening tonight. 600 14th St. NW; no website yet.

2) Silver Spring: Pete's New Haven-Style Apizza's Silver Spring location debuts today. The chef behind the restaurant is Alisa Rivkin, who's spent a lot of time working in New York. The latest Pete's will offer delivery to a specified area; here's the menu. There will be a happy hour and lunch specials. Status: Opening today. 962 Wayne Ave. Silver Spring, Md.; website.
