Brainfood Burger Battle; Poste's Solstice Celebration

PENN QUARTER— It's burger season, which means the Brainfood Burger Battle is coming just in time. Scheduled for June 30 at Poste, the event will see ten chefs, including Scott Drewno of the Source, Teddy Folkman of Granville Moore's and Haidar Karoum of Proof, face off against each other for burger glory. Tickets are $75 for all you can eat/drink, and proceeds benefit Brainfood. More info here. [EaterWire]

PENN QUARTER— Speaking of Poste, the Kimpton restaurant will hold a Summer Solstice extended happy hour tonight. That means discounted oysters, happy hour pricing on drinks until sunset (8:37 p.m.), a tap takeover by DC Brau and more. [EaterWire]

MARYLAND— Summer road-trip intel: Andrew Evans of Easton's popular BBQ Joint is opening up a second location of the restaurant in Pasadena, Maryland. The restaurant is pretty close to Annapolis at 33 Magothy Beach Rd. and will open later this summer. [EaterWire]

CAPITOL HILL— On Friday, June 28, Sonoma will host its first Locavore dinner of the season. There are 18 seats available, and the menu will be designed by newish chef Joshua Hutter. On the menu for the four course dinner: Polyface Farms rabbit. The event costs $57 per person. [EaterWire]
