Eat burgers and brats on July 4; follow it with baby goat and octopus July 5. Mike Isabella's Greek-influenced Kapnos restaurant will open the day after Independence Day at 2201 14th St. NW.
According to a press release, here are some of the menu items to expect: whole-roasted animals like suckling pig and baby goat, shareable mezze plates like raw spot prawns and charred octopus, Mediterranean seafood dishes, and typical Greek fare like spanikopita that will be daily specials.
The restaurant, designed by Streetsense, has room for 160 people, with an open kitchen and two hickory-fired rotisserie grills in the middle. There are two bars, and the beverage program will emphasize Greek spirits, as well as lemonade cocktails and Greek wine. There's a chef's table as well.
Isabella is opening the restaurant with partners George and Nick Pagonis. His neighboring sandwich shop, G, will open in the next few weeks.
