What was "unofficially official" is now official. Celebrity chef Daniel Boulud's DBGB Bar & Kitchen is coming to D.C.
Real estate broker Tom Papadopoulos, who worked on the deal, tells Eater that the lease has been signed for CityCenter, the development in the former Convention Center site in Penn Quarter. Eater has reached out for additional details on the size of the restaurant and timing of the opening.
Boulud told Eater National earlier this month at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen that he was planning on opening the brasserie-style restaurant in Washington. "I started in America in DC, and I'm upset that it took me 30 years to go back. I'm looking forward to it very much. It's exciting, I love DC, I've always loved DC. I just wanted to come to New York, and I got physically, happily stuck in New York," he said at the time.
CityCenter has kept relatively quiet about what restaurants and retail are opening there, though a Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House is expected to come there.
