Maketto 'Residency' Planned for Hanoi House

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

Erik Bruner-Yang's future Maketto market over on H Street isn't opening anytime soon (it's scheduled for late 2013) but in the meantime, the chef and his team are planning a takeover of an existing restaurant to drum up excitement for the project.

"Maketto: A Residency" will see 14th Street's Hanoi House become sort of a Maketto-in-progress for three months, beginning July 15. There, Bruner-Yang and chef de cuisine James Wozniuk will cook a $30-per-person, Asian street food-inspired menu. There will also be dim sum available a la carte. The menu will change frequently. The space will serve as a test kitchen as well.

The new concept will be open six days a week (closed on Sundays) and requires reservations. The pop-up comes as the Toki Underground chef is wrestling with legal troubles; he's due back in court later this month after a domestic dispute.
