The DC area is home to a lot of restaurants, and among them are hidden gems that many Washingtonians aren't unearthing. To help guide us to these potential discoveries, we've enlisted some of our city's many food players to share with us their under-the-radar recommendations for Dining Confidential. Are you a chef with a suggestion? Shoot us an email.
For this edition of Dining Confidential, we turn to Dolcezza co-founder Robb Duncan. The gelato master has a favorite recommendation for under-the-radar sushi in Alexandria.
"I go to Yamazoto at least two times per week to get my sushi fix. It is off of 395 on Little River Turnpike and has the best sushi in or around DC. It's all about the freshness of the fish and this place rivals the freshness of Sushi Taro (I realize this is saying a lot) and the portion [size] of the cuts surpass that. Fatty Salmon, King Salmon, Hamachi, Fatty Yellow Tail, Blue Fin Toro, sometimes with a bit of white rice for some added bite and texture, sometimes just sashimi, unadulterated raw-ness."
