Burger chain Carl's Jr. made headlines, for better or worse, earlier this week when it announced that its Pop Tart ice cream sandwich would go from test market experiment to national menu item. The restaurant chain doesn't have a presence near D.C., but who needs them? Diners who feel the need to combine ice cream and Pop Tarts can do it without the help of a national chain.
Ted's Bulletin, already famed for its homemade pop tarts, has been quietly preparing pop tart ice cream sandwiches for years, according to a spokeswoman. It's an off-menu item, and they're willing to make any combination of ice cream and pop tarts of the day into a sandwich.
Some popular combinations include the strawberry/rainbow sprinkle pop tart with vanilla ice cream, as well as the peanut butter and bacon pop tart with vanilla ice cream. Chocolate lovers can combine chocolate ice cream with the Nutella pop tart when it's available, too. They're priced at $6.99 each.
