July 5 is a major day for restaurant openings this summer, it seems. Let's review.

1) U Street: Mike Isabella's Kapnos is set to debut Friday, serving up spit-fired meats and new spins on Greek classic dishes. Eater took readers inside the restaurant's design yesterday, courtesy of Streetsense. It's a big restaurant, with a big bar and a chef's table. Isabella's sandwich spot G will open alongside it in a few weeks. Status: Opening Friday. 2201 14th St. NW; website.

2) Metro Center: Fabio Trabocchi's second place of his own, Casa Luca, will also debut Friday in the former Againn space. The restaurant is Italian, but more casual than its sister, Fiola. The restaurant is named for his son, who has been working within his restaurant. Expect flatbreads, fish dishes, daily specials and more. Status: Opening Friday. 1099 New York Ave. NW; website.

3) Capitol Hill: Finally, Top Cheffer Spike Mendelsohn's latest joint will officially debut Friday, after soft opening events over the weekend. Bearnaise is a simple concept: steak + unlimited fries + affordable wine. Here's a look at the French-inspired design. Status: Opening Friday. 315 Pennsylvania Ave. SE; website.
