Here's some huge news for fans of Philadelphia restaurateur Jose Garces. Loews Hotels & Resorts announced today that the chef will open up an Argentinian Steakhouse in the Madison Hotel in early 2014.
Details are few at the moment — the restaurant's name hasn't been announced. The hotel recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation, reopening in 2012. Loews bought back the property after it was renovated. This restaurant will replace The Federalist, which opened after the hotel got its new look. A spokeswoman says that restaurant's last day of business is Sunday.
Garces operates such restaurants as Amada, Tinto, Distrito, Chifa, and Village Whiskey. He has a presence in such locations as Atlantic City and California, and appears on the Food Network show Iron Chef. He is the second Philly-based restaurateur to set his sights on D.C. recently, following Stephen Starr's popular Le Diplomate.
