FOOD MEDIA— The New York Times has a long profile of prolific D.C. restaurateur Ashok Bajaj. He tells the publication how hard it was to get a space for Bombay Club years ago. "Landlord after landlord rejected his proposal, more than one on the grounds that 'Indian restaurants smell'," the article reads. But Bajaj says, "I never gave up." [NYT]
SHAW— Rogue 24 is doing its own take on Restaurant Week. For "Restaurant Week Gone Rogue," the restaurant will offer a four course tasting menu for $55 per person. Each course has several selections, including lamb tartare with cucumber and yogurt, lamb collar with sesame and eggplant and more. The deal is good August 26-31. [EaterWire]
AWARDS SEASON— Daikaya and Table made the semi-finals. But no D.C. restaurants were ultimately named to Bon Appetit's list of Best New Restaurants 2013. [BA]
COLUMBIA HEIGHTS— Happy Birthday, Room 11. For the restaurant's fourth anniversary, they're offering a roster of $4 cocktails tonight, natch. [EaterWire]
