Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

MERRIFIELDWashingtonian checks in with R.J. Cooper about the upcoming Gypsy Soul restaurant in Merrifield. The restaurant has been held up in permitting, but planning for the space soldiers on. Expect a menu divided up into such sections as "snacks," "offal" and "the pig," as well as a big roof deck. [Washingtonian]

14TH STREET— Here's a hangover cure. The new Piola will offer a brunch with unlimited pizza on weekends from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's $15.95 for all-you-can-eat pizza (guests can add bottomless drinks), beginning this weekend. [EaterWire]

FOOD TV— Set the DVRs for tomorrow morning, David Guas fans. The Bayou Bakery chef will appear on the Today Show Thursday to talk burgers with a southern flair. [EaterWire]
