A report yesterday from DNAinfo New York said that Bareburger, a burger chain out of Astoria, was eying D.C. for expansion. Eater checked in with a rep for the company, and it's true: a D.C. location is planned. But there's no lease yet for a specific location.
A spokeswoman for the company said D.C. was a natural target because many of its neighborhoods are similar to those in New York, with young families, professionals and those who care about where their food comes from. Bareburger has several locations throughout Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. Its burgers are organic and hormone-free. The restaurant also serves other sandwiches, salads, shakes and snacks. A location could be open by the year's end.
