There's a new head chef overseeing the restaurants at the J.W. Marriott hotel downtown. Mark Quitney now has the top spot at the downtown institution. That means he's in charge of overseeing Avenue Grill, 1331 Bar and Lounge, the concierge lounge, and all the in-room and catering functions for the hotel.

Quitney comes to the local hotel company from the New Orleans Marriott, where he held the same job. He's worked for several other restaurants in the hotel chain, from the Atlanta Marriott Marquis to the Marco Island Marriott. He has also cooked at the James Beard House.

Quitney plans to update the Avenue Grill's menu to emphasize more local and regional ingredients.
