Summer Salads; Props for The Tombs

GEORGETOWN— The D.C. Council is declaring Aug. 12 "Clyde's of Georgetown Day" in honor of the restaurant's 50th anniversary. The restaurant is getting in on the celebration by offering free breakfast that day until 10 a.m. The restaurant will also bring back menu items from years past throughout the day. [EaterWire]

ARBITRARY LISTICLESThe Plate has put together a list of summer salads worth trying. The healthier fare can be found at places like Red Hen (which has a wheat berry salad with ricotta) and Maketto, where the green papaya salad has drawn some raves. [TP]

METRO CENTERAstro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken has decided to open on Sundays, meaning the shop is open every day of this week. The new hours start this weekend, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. [EaterWire]

GEORGETOWN— Listicle factory The Daily Meal has named The Tombs to its list of the country's best college bars. The bar gets a shoutout for being staffed by Georgetown students and alumni and for the "delicious food or DJ's tunes". [DM]
