Cava Mezze has often been known to D.C. diners more for its spreads and small plates than its sips. A new mixologist will hope to change that.
The restaurant group has hired Glendon Hartley to revamp the cocktail menu. New drinks will involve Greek liquors and spirits, as well as locally-grown spices and seasoning. The drinks will be meant to complement the restaurant's Mediterranean bent. There will be 15 new mixed drinks added to the list, and the beer and wine selections will also get an update.
Hartley has worked at such restaurants as BlackSalt, Lost Society, Founding Farmers and Rio Grande. On Mondays, diners can try his "Sip for Six" menu, with a selection of $6 cocktails, beginning today at the Capitol Hill location (other branches will follow).
