Curious Washingtonians showed up to check out the mix of vendors and food stalls at last Saturday's launch of the District Flea, a new outdoor market near U Street from the founders of the Brooklyn Flea. And this Saturday, there's another reason to visit the market when Churchkey sets up a pop-up beer garden with eight beers picked by beer director Greg Engert. This is the first week for the District Flea/Churchkey beer garden. Beers will rotate each week, but tomorrow Churchkey will offer four and 14 ounce pours of Pumking 2013 from Southern Tier Brewing Company, DC Brau's The Public, Union Jack from Firestone Walker, and the last kegs of Bluejacket & Maine Beer Co. Collaboration Time #2.
The beer garden will be located on the south end of the market at 945 Florida Avenue and will run every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 12. And Red Apron's hot dog cart will also be stationed at the District Flea, serving a brat dog with braised kraut and spicy mustard, a bacon dog with onions and pork rinds, and chorizo hot dog with jalapeño relish and pico de gallo.
