1) Downtown: Newton's Noodles, from Newton's Table chef Dennis Friedman, opens early this week. It's a fast-casual concept that Friedman hopes to expand throughout the city. The restaurant is into its own lingo, such as its fuzu noodle dish and its "chork" serving utensils. In addition to customizable noodle bowls, Newton's serves up dishes like ahi tuna bits, duck confit spring rolls and pattycake, a rum dessert made by Friedman's wife, Patty. The restaurant seats 70 inside with a 40 seat patio. Status: Opening tomorrow or Wednesday. 1129 20th St. NW; website. Update: The restaurant was scheduled to open today, but health inspectors told the owner he needed to add more sprinklers, according to the Washington Post. Look for an opening tomorrow or Wednesday.

2) Germantown: The Famous Dave's barbecue chain continues its sweep of the suburbs with a new location in Germantown. The restaurant is over 5,00 square feet in size, with a big patio and room for almost 200 guests. Status: Opening today. 20660 Seneca Meadows Parkway, Germantown, Md.; website.
